Numbers and alphabets are the basic teachings that a child learns in the house even before his steps reach the door of the school. This is the main foundation of their learning process. As the child starts going to school, he/she discovers how to spell words and numbers. They learn to differentiate the sounds and pronunciation of the words and numbers. And finally, they understand why we use numbers and words. These simple components become an undeniable part of their existence then and in the years to come. Be it anywhere in life, numbers are a facet no one can wave away. Be it in everyday usage or in making important decisions, numbers have a chance in representing facts which wouldn’t be possible otherwise.
The basic use of numbers is to count things. There are different ways to represent numbers. We can write about them, show them with our fingers. Even while teaching a child the basic methods of counting numbers, we end up using our finger lines. It influences them to the point that they continue this pattern forward. We can say that there are “5” chocolates on the table or “five” chocolates on the table or we can simply show 5 fingers.

Why Do We Use Names For Numbers?
The names of the numbers are very important for every student. It helps them to know the correct pronunciation of the numbers. Also, it draws a clear line between the numbers in maths and their spellings in English. For example, while writing a sentence in English, if we use the names of the numbers instead of numbers in figures, we maintain the difference between English and Maths. This is one of the reasons why we generally don’t use the figures in paragraphs, unless we want to specifically specify them in that. Numbers in figures generally draw the instant attention of the individual reading them. If the intention lies in directing the attention of the readers towards the numbers, then it is easily attainable with numbers in figures.
For example:
1 ) Rahul has seven pens with him.
2 ) Rahul has 7 pens with him.
The second sentence draws attention to the number name ‘ seven ‘ quicker than the first one.
