Example:- 10, 20, 25, and 55 are multiples of 5 for the reasons given below:-

These values are called multiples as these values are obtained by adding or subtracting the original value repeatedly.

If we’ve to see that any number may be a multiple of 5 or not, then we’d like to divide that number by 5. Suppose there is any remainder left, then that number is not multiple.

 

What is a Common Multiple?

A common multiple can be defined as a number that is a multiple of two or more numbers in a given set. Let us understand through an example.

Let us take two numbers 15 and 30.

Now the common multiples of 15 are 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 18 and the common multiples of 30 are 30, 60, 180, and 120,150,180

Here, we will see 30 and 60 are the primary two common multiples of 15 and 30.

 

How to Find Multiple Using Divisions?

We know that both multiplication and division are the student’s need to have inverse operations. It implies both are linked with each other. We can find out using division whether a given number is multiple of another number or not.

Some of the examples are mentioned below

30÷ 5 = 6, so 30 can be divided evenly by 5 and it is also a multiple of 5. Since, 6 * 5= 30.

35 ÷ 5 = 7, so 35 can be divided by 5 and is also a multiple of 5. Since, 5 * 7= 35
